The port of Grangemouth handled a record 4,200 containers last week.
The Port of Grangemouth reported the busiest week in its history after handling a record-breaking number of containers.
The facility on the Forth handles more than 150,000 units on an annual basis and is Scotland’s single largest container port.
The site which has direct trading connections to the ports of Rotterdam, Antwerp, Felixstowe and Hamburg has been boosted in recent months by a strong potato seed season and an increase in whisky and white spirit cargos.
It has also been given a lift by strong pre-Christmas volumes, which boosted the number of containers handled at Grangemouth in the past week to 4,200 200 more than the previous high.
Port manager Derek Knox said: “The team has worked hard with our customers to make sure we deliver our usual efficient service.”
Grangemouth is owned by Forth Ports, which runs eight commercial ports in the UK including Dundee, Leith, Rosyth, Methil, Burntisland and Kirkcaldy.
