A former Scottish Borders secondary teacher who admitted having sex with a female pupil has been struck off his profession’s register.
Ryan McInally, of Monikie in Angus, was sentenced to 200 hours unpaid work at Selkirk Sheriff Court last year.
He waived his right to attend a General Teaching Council Scotland hearing, indicating he wished to be removed from the register.
He was prohibited from applying to re-register for a period of two years.
Last year McInally – who was 30 at the time of the court case – admitted breaching a position of trust by having sex with a female pupil.
He committed the offence at a house in the Borders between December 2013 and January 2014.
As well as being sentenced to carry out unpaid work his name was put on the sex offenders register for three years.
In addition to removing him from its register, GTC Scotland also made a referral to the Scottish ministers to decide if he should be barred from working with children or protected adults.
