A Dundee bus driver has quit his job after police launched a probe into an allegation that he canoodled with a teenage schoolgirl on the number 17 service.
The alleged incident was spotted on the vehicle’s inbuilt CCTV cameras during a routine check by National Express bosses.
The alleged tryst took place on a number 17 service which runs between Whitfield and the Technology Park, according to a spokesman for National Express.
When the CCTV footage was discovered the bus company suspended the driver and launched an internal investigation.
The bus driver resigned on Wednesday, a National Express spokesman confirmed.
He said: “We can confirm an incident took place on a number 17 bus involving a member of staff. The individual was suspended and the incident is currently the focus of an internal investigation.
“As a result of concerns raised during the investigation we contacted the authorities. The individual resigned yesterday and is no longer a National Express employee.”
Tayside Police confirmed their officers are investigating the alleged incident.
A spokesman said: “We were contacted by National Express Dundee in relation to the conduct of one of its employees while on duty on Wednesday March 13 in Dundee.
“Inquiries to establish the full set of circumstances around the incident are ongoing at this time.”
The bus driver declined to comment when approached by The Courier at his home but has today denied anything improper took place.
