Kris Miller, Courier, 06/02/15. Picture today shows Stephen Henderson the jewellers in Dundee which was the scene of a lot of police activity after a possible raid.

Police investigating a raid on a Dundee jewellery shop have released a description of the suspects.

A number of items were stolen from the Stephen Henderson Jewellers store on Union Street at around 3.55pm on Friday. Officers have issued updated descriptions of two men they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

The first male is described as white, approximately 5’11” in height, with an athletic build, large blue eyes and mousey coloured facial hair.

He was wearing a distinctive navy blue deer stalker hat lined with cream fur, a grey and black striped top with long black sleeves, an Adidas hooded gillet with sky blue, grey and white panels front and back with a white Adidas logo on the right breast, navy Armani jeans and sky blue trainers.

The second man is described as white, 5’8” in height, slim build, with dark , short hair.

He was wearing a black hooded long sleeved top, light grey Adidas jogging bottoms with dark grey stripes, light coloured trainers and a dark coloured baseball cap.

The pair were seen shortly before the incident walking up Union Street from the direction of Dundee Railway Station.

They were also seen running back towards the railway station after the incident, using the pedestrian crossing towards Discovery Point.

A police spokesman said “This was a high value theft which occurred on a Friday afternoon when the city centre would have been busy with shoppers on their way home and people possibly leaving work early and heading to Dundee train station.

“From our extensive enquiries we have updated the descriptions of the men we wish to trace and we can confirm that one of the men was wearing a very distinctive fur lined navy blue deer stalker hat and we believe he spoke with a Liverpudlian accent.

“We also know that the two men walked into the city centre from the direction of Dundee Railway station and it is possible that the men were in the Discovery Point area for a short time prior to the incident.

“I would urge anyone who may have been in the Discovery Point and Union Street areas of Dundee at around this time and saw men fitting these descriptions to come forward to assist us with our enquiries.”

Anyone with information that could assist police with their enquiries is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.

Alternatively information can be passed via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
