Woman left ‘scarred for life’ after incident at Liquid Nightclub

Debbie Strachan has been left with serious injuries after a night out at Liquid Nightclub in Dundee.
Debbie Strachan has been left with serious injuries after a night out at Liquid Nightclub in Dundee.

A woman has been left with horrific injuries following an incident in a Dundee nightclub.

Police have launched an investigation after Debbie Strachan said she had been left “scarred for life” in an assault at Liquid.

Mrs Strachan, who lives in Stirling, claims she was assaulted by a man who may have been holding a bottle.

She said: “I was hit in the face by a male with either a bottle a glass or something in his closed fist.

“I will be scarred for life and the emotional and mental scarring is just as horrific.”

Mrs Strachan claims police failed to take her seriously immediately following the event early on Sunday morning despite her horrific injuries.

When she returned home, she contacted officers in Stirling and Tayside Division are now making further inquiries, but Mrs Strachan is disappointed CCTV footage of the incident has yet to be released.

“The police closed the case in Dundee that night claiming I hit my head on the banister and fell,” she said.

“The Stirling police are helping investigate further but as you can see from my injuries, unless I repeatedly hit said banister that is not what happened.

“I remember feeling the impact of this male connecting with my face.

“The Dundee police still have not contacted me and still have not released the CCTV (footage of the incident).

“I am left scarred for life and not a thing is being done to help.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed inquiries into the incident are continuing.

She said: “Anyone who has information that could assist officers with their inquiries is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
