Cowdenbeath and Kirkcaldy MP Gordon Brown has officially opened the Better Together campaign headquarters for central Fife.

He was introduced by Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Claire Baker during the ceremony at the revamped shop unit on Hunter Street in Kirkcaldy.

The Better Together shop hit the headlines last week when it came into conflict with the opposing political views of the flat owners staying directly above.

The shop’s vote No window stickers were countered by the Yes stickers of resident Pat Canny in a battle for window space and voters’ minds.

The two campaigners said they are good neighbours despite the political differences.

Mr Canny said: “We didn’t know who was moving in and were told that it was being used as office space. It was only when the posters went up that we realised it was for Better Together.”

Bruce Holburn, who is based in the Better Together shop, said: “It’s a bit of fun and I did smile when I came around the corner and saw it.”
