FORMER TV and radio star Jimmy Savile was not alone when he carried out a sex attack in Fife, it has been claimed.

Police are now investigating whether he was with another male when an attack allegedly happened in the region.

It is one of five reported attacks in Scotland that the disgraced Top Of The Pops and Jim’ll Fix It presenter is linked with.

The four others are understood to have been “solo” offences.

Yesterday the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (Acpos) said it could not comment on the details of a “live investigation”.

However, as part of Operation Yewtree, which is investigating allegations against Savile, Acpos confirmed police are involved in a probe into claims two people including the main suspect were involved in an attack.

A report published last Friday into the full horror of Savile’s sex abuse revealed he had struck in Fife.

Savile, whose sex crimes against a Tayside woman in Liverpool came to light last year, is now known to have preyed on hundreds of victims across the UK, the youngest aged just eight.

Since the Metropolitan Police launched Operation Yewtree in October, 450 people have come forward, most of them with claims of sexual abuse.

Fife Police and the Met said yesterday they were unable to comment on the alleged offence.

The age and gender of the Fife victim, as well as the date of the offence, have not been disclosed.

It is not clear if police know the identity of the other alleged offender, whether they are alive or dead or if the victim has only provided a description.

Yesterday a support group for victims of sexual abuse in Fife said it had experienced a “significant increase” in people seeking support since the launch of the Savile investigation.

Ms Marnie Collin, manager of the Kirkcaldy-based Kingdom Abuse Survivors Project (Kasp), said: “There has been a significant increase in individuals approaching our service for support.

“Many are saying that they were getting on with their lives but the extent of all the coverage of recent sex scandals has impacted to the point that they are struggling to cope with their own abuse and now need help with that.

“Amongst clients that we already support we are noticing a huge increase in their symptoms, which they are attributing to the information that is coming out regarding Jimmy Savile and others.

“Clients are thrown back into their own abusive situations and are being triggered to experience more flashbacks of their abuse, nightmares and anxiety.”
