Stalker turned up at Fife woman’s home at 2am

An internet stalker travelled from the north-east of England to Scotland to trace his victim and turned up at her home in the early hours of the morning.

After visiting the woman’s friends and family, 60-year-old Robert Lambert went to her Rosyth home and knocked on her kitchen window at 2am.

Lambert had become obsessed with the woman, despite her repeated demands that he stopped contacting her.

Even though the police became involved, Lambert continued to harass his victim and he sent naked images of her to a family member.

At Dunfermline Sheriff Court yesterday, Lambert, of Alexandria Road, Ashington, was jailed for 18 months.

He admitted that between September 1 last year and February 27 at North Queensferry, Rosyth and elsewhere he engaged in a course of conduct which caused his victim fear or alarm by repeatedly contacting her by text messages, telephone and social network websites, having been told by her that she wanted no further contact with him.

He also admitted contacting numerous friends and family members of the woman in an attempt to ascertain information on her and her whereabouts and he attended her home in the early hours of the morning.

Lambert further admitted that on March 11 at an address in North Queensferry, he sent messages via Facebook to a relative of the woman which were abusive and sent unsolicited naked images of her.

Depute fiscal Louise Ward told the court that Lambert and the woman met on an internet chat room site in September 2014 and had exchanged messages for around a month.

The woman then started to receive messages from Lambert including “I’ve sent you five friendship requests, why don’t you accept me?” and “Am I not good enough? Are you ashamed of me?”

The woman blocked him on Facebook but he then changed his name on the site and started sending more friendship requests.

On February 14, Lambert visited the home of someone known to the woman but was not given her current address.

Later that day, Lambert went to the home of the victim’s mother.

Ms Ward said: “The accused stated he’d come with a present for Valentine’s Day for the complainer. He also had a bunch of flowers.

“The mother said she was unable to accept the flowers but he handed them over then got into a taxi.”

A few days later the victim received a text message from Lambert saying “Did she steal the flowers which cost me ten quid?”

On February 25, a colleague of the victim was at work when he found Lambert at the door, claiming he was an old school friend of the woman.

When told she was not at work, he replied: “Tell her Bob was here and I’ll come back tomorrow.”

Ms Ward said the woman was made aware of the latest visit and was “becoming increasingly concerned”.

At 2am on February 27, the victim was in her home when she heard someone knocking on her kitchen window.

“She shouted down to inquire who it was and recognised the accused’s voice,” continued the depute fiscal.

He shouted: “I can’t live without you. You may as well open the door to save me coming back.”

The woman contacted the police.

On March 11, the woman received Facebook messages from Lambert including offensive comments.

Lambert then started sending messages to a relative of the woman including naked images of her.

Defence agent Elaine Buist said her client felt “aggrieved”.

She added: “He feels that she took advantage of his poor mental health state and managed to obtain money in cash and through online shopping from him.”

Sheriff Craig McSherry jailed Lambert for 18 months. He also imposed a non-harassment order on him for two years preventing contact of any kind with the victim.
