The body was discovered near Pacific Quay on Sunday.

The body of a teenager who went missing a month ago has been recovered from the River Clyde in Glasgow.

Sarah Goldie, 18, failed to return to her home in Renfrew on March 11.

That evening emergency services were called to reports of a woman in the water near Glasgow’s King George V Bridge.

Nothing was found but police have now said a body was recovered from the river on Sunday.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Police Scotland statement said: “At around 4.10pm on Sunday, the body of 18-year-old Sarah Goldie was recovered from the River Clyde near to Pacific Quay.

“There would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death, however a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal and a post-mortem will take place in due course to establish how she died.”

Miss Goldie’s father Gordon has previously said he believed the woman spotted in the water in March was his daughter, and he thanked two strangers who jumped into the river after her.

The teenager was reported missing after failing to return home from a trip to Glasgow.

Her handbag was found near to the area of the Clyde where the woman was spotted that evening.

Mr Goldie said following his daughter’s disappearance: “Complete strangers risked their own lives to try and save who I believe was Sarah and we will never, ever be able to truly express our gratitude to them for their actions.”

“Our lives have been torn apart by this in a way that you could never imagine.”
