Dunfermline Athletic v Stirling Albion: Changes on the cards for Pars

Dunfermline manager Jim Jefferies barks orders from the dugout.

Dunfermline boss Jim Jefferies is set to carry out his threat of sweeping changes for the visit of Stirling Albion this afternoon after watching his side slip down the table in recent weeks.

The Pars are now without a league win in four games and dropped to fourth spot last weekend after a 1-0 defeat to Stenhousemuir.

That prompted Jefferies to suggest he might well make alterations to his starting line-up this weekend, and his mood has not changed since Saturday’s loss.

“It will not just be two or three changes, it could be a little bit more than that,” Jefferies warned.

“I don’t think it is because of lack of effort or the way that they are trying to play, they are just not getting results because they are not cashing in on their dominance at times.

“So you have sometimes got to draw the line.

“If we put the same side out on Saturday and they drop points, you would be saying why didn’t you change it? To be fair to the players we have to change it.

“We want to keep our challenge up and let’s be honest about it, for the run that we have had we are not out of touch.

“Other teams are struggling to get results and it can all change on one game.

“If we win on Saturday and those around about us don’t pick up full points, it just becomes tighter again.

“This is a game where we should be looking to pick ourselves up, go in there and get a result, so maybe freshness is what we need.

“Then it is up to the boys that go in on Saturday to say: ‘Right, we are going to grab this opportunity’ and put themselves in the frame for the following week.”

Jefferies could well look to the players who have been performing well in the Development League recently, with the second string convincingly winning games against the likes of Dundee United, Dundee and Ross County in recent weeks.

Goalkeeper Ryan Scully and Lewis Spence both had to be substituted last weekend but should be fit for today’s game at East End Park, with Ryan Wallace still the only player unavailable through injury.
