Rangers v Forfar: Loons are hoping to book play-off spot

Forfar head to Ibrox looking to take something home with them to keep their interest in the end of season play-offs alive.

The Loons are five points behind fourth-placed Ayr and eight behind Stranraer in third and manager Dick Campbell wants to put pressure on the south west sides ahead of facing them in the run-in.

Campbell is even willing to bend the rules to get a result as he jokingly explained: “We need to get at least a point from the Rangers game so I am going to play 15 players in my defence.”

On a more serious note, Campbell said: “We have to go for it and look for the win. We did that at East End Park on Saturday at Dunfermline and deserved to pick up the three points however we failed to take our chances.

“We will go with the same approach, however we have to take any chances that come our way.”

Campbell added: “I am not sure if Rangers will come out disappointed by Saturday’s Scottish Cup semi-final defeat from Dundee United or not.

“I can only concern myself with Forfar. I do know that the last time we played there we let ourselves down and lost 6-1.

“We cannot let that happen again. We have given Rangers three tough games at our place and we need that level of performance to get at least a point.”

Campbell added: “We are still fighting for a play-off place and I want that still to be the case when we play Ayr and Stranraer in our final games. Getting something from Rangers will help us do that.”

Iain Campbell returns after a ban for the Station Park men however, Jamie McCluskey is a doubt after picking up a knock at Dunfermline. Odmar Faero and Mark McCulloch remain out with injuries.

Cammy Bell will be assessed by the Rangers doctor before Ally McCoist will know if the goalkeeper is available. The Light Blues number one missed the cup defeat by United with concussion and was replaced by Steve Simonsen.
