Stirling Albion v Dunfermline: Pars need to get away to a good start

Dunfermline midfielder Josh Falkingham says the Pars must learn to become more ruthless on their travels if they are to clinch the League One title.

East End Park has become something of a fortress in the league this season, with Jim Jefferies’ side beating Airdrie, Stenhousemuir and Peterhead, and drawing with Brechin City.

It is a different story on the road, however, with the Fife outfit falling to losses at Morton and league leaders Forfar.

The Pars are at Stirling Albion this afternoon and former Arbroath play-maker Falkingham admits the team have to improve their away form.

He said: “We’ve had a couple of defeats on the road already this season. We need to take our home record and try to replicate that on the road.

“We know what to expect when we travel away.

“It was good to bounce back with a win against Peterhead following the Morton game, which was a bad result and performance. We now have to take that form going into this game at Stirling.

“You never want to look too far ahead, you always need to remain focused but we obviously have the game against Stirling Albion then a tough run in the league against the teams around us.

“We had been in good form prior to the Morton game and we want to keep that momentum going.”

Falkingham was the victim of two crude challenges that led to James Redman and Steven Noble being sent off last weekend.

Peterhead’s Jordon Brown was also dismissed for his part in the melee that followed Noble’s red card.

Although Falkingham expects teams to raise their game against Dunfermline, he knows Peterhead overstepped the mark.

Falkingham added: “It was a crazy game against Peterhead with all the sendings-off and probably the most bizarre one that I have been involved in.

“We got the three points and that was the most important thing.

“I think that was just a one-off in terms of the Peterhead game but we know what to expect when teams come up against us.

“We’re obviously a full-time team in this league and teams are going to up their game when they come to East End Park. We have to expect that.

“That was Peterhead’s way, to try and combat us by getting in amongst us.”

Falkingham, meanwhile, will warn his team-mates to be wary of Binos striker Steven Doris today.

He said: “I played with Steven Doris at Arbroath and I spoke to him a wee while back.

“He was telling me that he thinks they’ve got good forward players and I’m sure they will be fired up.

“I know how much of a threat he poses and if we can keep him quiet, we will be half-way there.”
