Stirling v Forfar: Inspection planned at Forthbank

The outcome of a 10.30am pitch inspection at Stirling Albion’s Forthbank Stadium could well prevent Forfar from closing in on league leaders Stranraer today.

The surface has been rock solid for several days now and officials last night rated the game doubtful, although they were holding out some hope that a rise in temperatures in yesterday will give the match a chance.

Should the game get the green light, Loons boss Dick Campbell says he’s keen to steal a march on their promotion rivals with a second straight victory.

Morton take on Dunfermline in the evening game and Forfar are hoping to take advantage of whoever slips up.

“Stirling have improved a lot in recent weeks since their new manager came in but this is a game we should be looking to win,” Campbell said.

“Some or all of the teams around us will lose points and if we can win whilst that is happening elsewhere it will have been a good afternoon’s work.

“We are three points away from top spot and whilst nothing will be decided this weekend a win puts us in a stronger position.

“There are only 15 games left and with so many teams in the hunt for the title and promotion the pressure is growing.

“That pressure will intensify in the final nine games so it would be terrific to be going into them handily placed.”

Dale Hilson has been ruled out with a hamstring injury and Mark Baxter is doubtful, while Chris Templeman is likely to have to settle for a place on the bench if he recovers from his knock in time.
