Robbie Neilson plans to decide on his future within the next week.
The 31-year-old full-back is back down south in Leicester weighing up his options after a successful short-term stay at Dundee United last season.
The former Hearts and Scotland ace is being tracked by a number of English sides so aims to settle his future soon.
Neilson said: ”I’ve got a few things on the go with clubs down here in the Midlands area and beyond.
”I’m enjoying being back with my family so we’ll see what happens with regards to where I’ll be playing next season but I’d expect to come to a decision within about another week.”
Meanwhile, United have been linked with ex-Motherwell and Falkirk defender Brian McLean.
The 27-year-old is in the middle of agreeing a package to leave Preston after being transfer-listed by the English outfit.
