Zander Clark will be St Johnstone’s number two goalkeeper next season – but boss Tommy Wright wants Stevie Banks to remain at McDiarmid Park as a coach.
Wright reported: “We have offered Banksy a coaching contract and hopefully he’ll decide to stay.
“He has played a major role in the last few seasons coaching the keepers as well as being back-up to Alan.
“I know Alan and the other goalies enjoy working with him so we’re hoping he’ll decide to stay on.”
On Clark, who has starred on loan for Queen of the South, Wright noted: “It’s time for Zander Clark to step up and challenge for the jersey.
“He’s done very well on loan in the last couple of seasons so he’s got the experience now to really push on.
“Alan is the number one at the moment but we want Zander to be laying down a challenge to that next season.
“It’s great for the club to have two very good goalkeepers and I’m sure they will bring out the best in each other.”
