Former British Gas managing director Phil Bentley has taken over as the new chief executive of telecoms group Cable & Wireless.
The former Diageo group and BP executive took over the reins from Tony Rice on January 1 and has since purchased 4.3 million shares in the company and been awarded 4.28m performance shares.
Mr Bentley said he was delighted with his new role and had already toured a number of CWC’s global operational hubs.
He said: “My priorities will be driving top line growth, continuing cost discipline, increasing returns on capital and improving customer service.
“I’m confident we can evolve our strategy to become the leading communications provider in the region and offer a distinctive investor proposition.”
