Fife legends Big Country will open the main stage at this year’s T in the Park a week on Friday.

Organisers DF Concerts revealed the full stage line-ups, showing Dunfermline’s Big Country will strike the first chord on the main stage around 6pm.

It’s a fantastic achievement for the band, who were so devastated by the suicide of lead singer and guitarist Stuart Adamson in 2001.

They only returned to action in 2007 for a one-off reunion gig to mark their 25th anniversary, with former Alarm singer Mike Peters taking over on lead vocals.

That gig brought the band members together again and they formally reunited last year for a tour.

It will be a proud moment for Big Country, coming just a few miles up the M90 from where they were originally based in Dunfermline.

They are immediately followed by The View before Jessie J, Plan B and finally Friday headliners Arctic Monkeys.

The following night, Saturday, July 9, Beyonce will strut her stuff immediately before headliners Coldplay, while Pulp will take the stage just in front of Sunday headliners Foo Fighters.

The big surprise of the weekend is that New Yorkers The Strokes won’t headline the Radio 1/NME Stage on Saturday, playing second fiddle to Swedish House Mafia.

That’s a blessing for fans of both The Strokes and Primal Scream though, as the latter are headlining the King Tut’s Tent the same night, meaning a quick dash across the field should see them catch both bands.

Tom Jones appears second last behind 2ManyDJs on the Friday night in the King Tuts Tent, clashing with another big voice, Plan B.Visit www.tinthepark.com for a full run-down of the line-up.
