The search for a new member of the Singing Kettle is building up steam.

Applications have been flooding in from people keen to star with the favourite children’s entertainers after Artie Trezise and Cilla Fisher announced they were putting a lid on their stage careers.

The husband-and-wife team are hanging up their microphones in the new year but are looking for a new female face to join fellow Kettlers Gary Coupland and Kevin Macleod in the award-winning theatrical show.

Artie and Cilla will continue working behind the scenes, with Cilla writing songs and Artie producing the stage show and directing DVDs and CDs.

Cilla (60) said: ”We are looking for the right person to continue the success. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime job opportunity and I have loved every moment.

”Now is the time for us to step down and bring in a new female member to join Gary and Kevin.”

The closing date is October 24 and there will be an initial application process for potential stars followed by the chance to audition in front of the existing cast.

Artie (65) said: ”It may sound a little like who can fill Cilla’s shoes, but we are really open minded as to what the new member should bring to the show. We want to see as many people as possible before we make the final decision.

”Cilla and I are really excited about the process and the opportunity it gives us to shape the show for the future.”

Cilla added: ”If I can give any tips to the applicants, it would be to bring their biggest smile with them along with bundles of personality.”

Auditions will take place on Sunday November 4. Full details are available at www.singingkettle.com.
