Pitlochry Festival Theatre planning tribute to actor Martyn James
ByNews reporter
Theatregoers will gather in Pitlochry this month to pay tribute to one of Scotland’s best-loved actors.
A Celebration Of The Life Of Martyn James will be held in Pitlochry Festival Theatre, where he appeared for 23 summer seasons.
Mr James, who was based in Perth, died last month aged 63 after a long career in which he appeared in everything from Shakespeare to pantomime.
It is hoped that colleagues from his 43 years on the stage will participate in the celebration, which will feature anecdotes, reminiscences, filmed material and possibly a musical performance.
As well as reflecting on Mr James’ public face, his family will also contribute.
The event will be held on Sunday February 19 at 2pm. Admission will be free, but by ticket only.
Phone the theatre’s box office on 01796 484626 for more information.
