Three men from Leeds and Glasgow in court over Dundee flat ‘cannabis haul’

Three men have appeared in court accused of operating a cannabis plantation at a flat in Dundee.

Renatas Butavicius, 30, of Tewkesbury Street in Leicester, along with Kim Bao Liu, 55, of Hamiltonhill Gardens, Glasgow, and Chung Chang Wang, of Hill Street, also Glasgow, appeared in private at Dundee Sheriff Court before Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown on a petition.

It is alleged that on August 30, at Ladywell Avenue and elsewhere in Scotland meantime unknown to the prosecutor, they produced cannabis, a class B drug.

All three appeared separately before the sheriff and none of them made any plea during their short appearances.

Butavicius was granted bail following an application by his solicitor John Boyle.

Solicitors Anika Jethwa, for Liu, and Michael Short, who appeared for Wang, also moved for bail.

However, their applications were rejected by the sheriff and both were remanded in custody. All three were fully committed for trial.

Residents in the area reported seeing a large police presence on the street when a property in Ladywell Avenue was raided.

A police officer stood guard outside one house on the street for several days.

One resident said that the officer had been stationed outside the door “24/7”. Forensics officers were also spotted on the street.
