A woman is due to face trial next spring on charges of selling puppies without a licence at public car parks in Angus and Dundee.
Jaimie Rose Colquhoun, of Dunholm Road in Dundee is facing charges under the Pet Animals Act relating to alleged offences between January 2014 and October 2015.
She is charged with selling dogs, including an English bulldog, at her home address and locations including Pleasureland, Queen’s Drive, Arbroath and Morrisons supermarket car park, Dundee, as well as via internet websites.
Colquhoun was not present at Forfar Sheriff Court for the latest calling of the case, when a sheriff was told that the Crown now intends to roll together separate summary complaints raised at Forfar and Dundee.
Depute fiscal Kirsten Letford said: “The feeling is that it would be proper to hear the cases together and I would make a motion to conjoin the cases and set a later trial date, given the work that the Dundee procurator fiscal’s office has done.”
Defence solicitor Jim Houston said: “I am reluctant to agree to this.
“Both these cases have been going on for some considerable time — the Forfar case has been through two trial diets but there was insufficient time for the trial to be heard.
“The Dundee trial would have been the second trial diet, although admittedly there was a failure by the accused to appear at an earlier diet.
“The alleged offences are of considerable vintage and the accused has been waiting some time for this to be resolved,” he added.
Sheriff Janys Scott QC granted the motion for the cases to be conjoined and set a trial date in early April.
