Dundee manager Neil McCann has asked for support from the stands as the Dark Blues battle to find the form that will push them up the table.
Saturday’s 2-0 home Scottish Cup defeat to Motherwell brought anger from sections of the Dee support, following a 4-1 league defeat to Ross County at Dens.
The manager himself was a target of some fans’ displeasure.
He says, though, he can handle that — just get behind the players.
“If results aren’t coming, the fans are unhappy and I get involved because I’m that way built,” he said.
“I’m passionate, I’m very supportive of my side.
“I can be critical and I’ll never sugar-coat it but, on the pitch as long as we have game time, I’ll encourage them, I’ll ask for more and I’ll support them always.
“I can understand fans getting frustrated but, on the whole, the fans have been brilliant.
“After a defeat I will always question myself whether I got it right and I get it wrong as much as the players.
“I’m learning, they’re learning.
“What I need from the fans is support because I’ve never seen, as yet, at 43 years of age, any negativity coming from the stands being helpful for a player — but I understand it, I want to stress that.
“I understand the frus-tration but be supportive for the 90 minutes because a game can change like that.”
