Former Dundee United boss Ray McKinnon has moved to set the record straight after a suggestion not all his signings at Tannadice were put through medicals.
Earlier this week current Tangerines boss Csaba Laszlo had stated that was the case and although he did not name McKinnon, he did mention the period during which his predecessor was in charge at the club.
McKinnon, now in charge at United’s Championship rivals Morton, has responded by issuing a statement.
“In light of reports in the press this week regarding the signing of players at Dundee United during my period as manager, I feel I have no option other than to clarify the following point,” it read.
“I deal in facts only and the fact is that in my time as manager every single player signed was put through a medical by the medical staff at Dundee United.
“I am disappointed that I have had to make this statement because although things did not work out the way I would have wished, I left the club on good terms.
“I have moved on and my focus is on an exciting new challenge at Morton.”
He would make no further comment and it’s understood he now considers the matter closed.
United, meanwhile, were back at work on Thursday as pre-season training kicked off.
Almost a full squad was on duty, with only goalie Deniz Mehmet unable to do any work following surgery.
Midfielder Fraser Fyvie didn’t do any ball work but was able to put in some hard running as he continues his comeback from a knee op.
