Stars to line up for Sean Dillon Dundee United testimonial

A host of former Dundee United favourites are set to return to Tannadice for Sean Dillon’s testimonial match next month.

It was announced today the highlight of the club captain’s special year will come on Tuesday March 21, when Dundonian Ian Cathro’s Hearts provide the opposition.

And, as well as the current playing staff, the squads that night are likely to include several team-mates from Dillon’s 10 years at the club.

The likes of 2010 Scottish Cup heroes Craig Conway and Garry Kenneth, as well as Jon Daly, Nicky Weaver, Noel Hunt and Lee Wilkie could all get some game time for the home team.

And Dillon’s popular full-back partner from his early days at Tannadice, Christian Kalvenes is also planning to fly over from Norway for the big night.

The Hearts ranks, meanwhile, could also include Andy Webster, Rudi Skacel, Scott Severin and a few others who played for both clubs.

Their involvement on the pitch is subject to permission from their current clubs, if they still have one, and the football authorities.

Also present will be Hearts director of football Craig Levein, the man who as United manager signed Dillon from League of Ireland champions Shelbourne at the start of 2007.

Fittingly, Levein returned to Tannadice today to officially announce the game.

It will be an all-ticket affair and in a bid to enable as many Arabs as possible to attend and pay tribute to their skipper’s service to their club, prices will be just £10 for adults and £5 for most concessions.

In a further gesture, two children per adult will have to pay just £2 for their briefs.
