Dundee United boss Ray McKinnon is working overtime to strengthen his squad even further.
Within an hour or so of last night’s sensational Betfred Cup victory over Premiership Partick Thistle he was working on getting fresh talent in.
Ray was delighted with the 3-1 success over the Jags that saw Cammy Smith’s first-ever senior hat-trick book a place in tonight’s draw for the quarter-finals.
He remains keen to add to his selection options.
That could see a Dutch defender arrive before the end of the week.
And Ray is also looking at other areas of his team.
“I would like another couple of players in and I’m working on it,” he said.
“I’m trying to get confirmation on the defender and I would also like to add another striker if I can.”
That front player will not be Canadian striker Marcus Haber.
His trial proved short-lived and Ray has confirmed the former St Johnstone man has headed back south.
“He wasn’t what we were looking for, so he’s gone.
“I’m still looking at other options and we’ll see what we can do.”
As for last night’s impressive performance, delighted as he was, Ray is not getting carried away.
“It’s just a start and I told the players that,” he said.
“But I was very pleased with the way the boys played.
“We played some very good football in the first half, especially the forward play.
“Even when the penalty was given against us in the second half, I was really pleased with how we reacted. We showed some resilience
“There were huge positives all over. Young Jamie Robson was outstanding, Scott Fraser was outstanding, Blair Spittal was excellent and Tope Obadeyi playing as a lone striker was fantastic.”
And there was special mention for the hat-trick hero.
“I asked the boys what they thought the No 10 role was.
“They talked about it being to create goals but for me it’s also about scoring goals.
“I used Cammy in that central role and I wanted him to get beyond Tope and get chances.
“He did that and he got his reward.”
United’s ticket allocation for Saturday’s Championship trip to Dumbarton has now been completely sold out.
