Dundee United handed debuts to teenagers Harry Souttar and Matty Smith as they lined up against Partick Thistle for the final home game of the season.
United went behind in only the sixth minute when a corner from James Penrice, a teenager making his debut for the Jags, was headed home by Frederic Frans.
It was the worst possible start but they almost grabbed a quick equaliser when Billy Mckay headed narrowly past. Shortly after Simon Murray saw a shot flash inches wide. McKay went close again when a 20-yard effort was saved by Ryan Scully.
United, though, fell two behind eleven minutes before the break as Sean Dillon failed to clear a Stevie Lawless pass, leaving Kris Doolan to round the ‘keeper and side-foot the home.
The second half saw United press hard to try to get back into the game and the deficit was halved when Liam Lindsay diverted a Scott Fraser corner into his own net in the 67th minute.
Thistle reacted quickly and looked to have sealed the points thanks to a 76th minute header from Ryan Edwards.
With three minutes remaining Edward Ofere blasted home United’s second and injury time saw a fine solo effort from 19-year-old sub Justin Johnson earn a point..
