Defender Coll Donaldson could be back in the Dundee United starting line-up for Monday night’s crunch derby at Dens Park.
The centre-half limped out of the Tangerines’ Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Hibs a fortnight ago with a hamstring problem.
He did make the bench for last Sunday’s crushing Premiership loss to Hamilton that left United on the brink of relegation but was not risked.
With another week to recover he should be fit enough for consideration for what looks like being the last city derby for some time.
Fellow centre-half Callum Morris could also be back.
He missed out completely against Accies after the aborted attempt to use him as a left-back in the semi saw him subbed before half-time.
Morris looked less than pleased when he came off at Hampden and so far no explanation has been offered for his absence from the next game.
Meanwhile, United can only be relegated on Monday if Kilmarnock beat Hamilton at New Douglas Park tomorrow.
That would leave Killie 11 points ahead and anything other than a win over Dundee would confirm the drop.
A win for Hamilton would mean, whatever happens at Dens, nothing would be officially settled.
And a draw in Lanarkshire would leave Mixu Paatelainen’s men with a mathematical chance of staying up, even if they lost.
Tickets for the away end are still available from the club shop at Tannadice.
