Annan Athletic 2 Cowdenbeath 0: Liam Fox philosophical in face of away defeat

Liam Fox insists Cowdenbeath won’t panic after defeat at Annan left them just two points off the bottom of League Two.

The Blue Brazil looked to be finding some form after going on a four-game unbeaten run in recent weeks. But they were stopped in their tracks at Galabank as goals in each half from Darren Ramsay and Steven Swinglehurst gave the hosts victory.

The way results elsewhere went, it means Cowden, who have been relegated in each of the past two seasons, are worryingly close to the relegation play-off position.

Boss Fox is remaining calm, however.

“The league table isn’t a concern at all. I think it’ll be tight down there all the way to the end of the season.

“This season was always going to be difficult. I think I brought 17 new players in so it was always going to take a bit of time.

“I thought we might be turning the corner after we went on a four-game unbeaten run, but this is just a reminder that any team in this league can beat anybody.

“It’s about trying to get a consistent run. We’ve had that in the previous four games and now we’ve had a wee blip so we need to get over that and get back to winning ways.

“I don’t expect it to knock us out of our stride. My message to the boys is always ‘don’t get too high if we win, don’t get too low if we lose’.”
