Sean Maitland has urged Scotland to be more clinical in the second Test against Japan on Saturday.
Scotland were not at their best as they battled to a 26-13 victory in Toyota City in the opening game of the series at the weekend.
And as they get set to end their season in Tokyo in front of the Japanese emperor, Maitland wants to see an improved display.
“This time we have to finish the chances we get,” he said.
“Hopefully it will be easier conditions to play rugby in. I don’t know what the weather will be like but I heard the forecast is that it could be raining – that will have an effect on the game.
“With the emperor there, it will provide a lot of motivation for them – but we can improve.”
It has been a mixed season for Maitland, who played in the World Cup and started the Six Nations but then dropped out of the team on the eve of the match in Wales with a hamstring problem and could not regain his place in Vern Cotter’s team.
The Saracens wing played 24 minutes of the first Test and is hoping for another chance to prove his worth to his head coach.
He said: “It is good being back in the mix after the Six Nations. It is good being around the boys again. When Vern names the team, I hope I get another crack.”
Scotland have seen Alasdair Dickinson and Duncan Taylor return home with hamstring problems, but Maitland feels the remaining players are all in good shape ahead of the final Test.
“It has been a long season but that also means guys should be match fit,” he said.
“One of the boys ran 11k (in the first Test) which is a lot compared to a standard game back in the UK.
“I had a few weeks off and coming off the bench it is always a bit tougher trying to find your second wind.
“We have not trained for that long and there is only one more day of training before the match so the boys are pretty fresh.”
