Scotland’s star footballers have been given their first taste of the team’s official new iOS application developed by a Dundee firm.
Since its launch on Tuesday the Scotland National Team iPhone and iPad app has become the number one paid sports application in Europe.
The impressive tech, which is available for 69p from the App Store (link), allows fans to keep up to date with fixtures, results and team news.
In addition a unique feature called Scotify allows fans to create an iconic Scotland player using a photo of their face, legendary Scottish haircuts and kits from years gone by.
With the help of high-profile clients such as the SFA, Waracle, which is based in South Tay Street, is aiming for a £1 million turnover this year.
David Romilly (26), business development director at Waracle, runs the firm with his brother Michael (29) and technical director Mike Wharton (26).
He said the company managed to fend off stiff competition from other developers to win the contract.
“Waracle are extremely privileged to work together with the SFA to develop and deliver a hugely successful iPhone application. The expectations of working with such a big client are always going to be high, but we have an exceptionally talented team who are capable of really great things.
“It goes to show that Waracle, and Dundee, can compete at the highest level to develop and deliver outstanding software with high-profile clients such as the SFA.
“As for the future, Waracle are in talks with the SFA to develop the app on the Android platform.”
Waracle have already been involved in bringing Scottish football to the App Store. Last year they helped Dundee United launch their own ‘Arab App’ (link).
