Dundee University student takes runner-up prize in Young Software Engineer of the Year Awards

A Dundee University student has come second in the Young Software Engineer of the Year Awards.

Paciencia Zinga Canda scooped the runner-up prize for his project providing a quality control system for coffee growers in Colombia.

The Young Software Engineer of the Year awards are given to the best undergraduate software projects, drawn from across all students studying computer science and software engineering in Scotland.

Each university nominates the top final year undergraduate software engineering project to be submitted for the awards.

The awards are organised by ScotlandIS, the trade body for software and the digital technology industry.

The first prize was won by Alin Rohnean, from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, for data modelling and prediction tools for prostate cancer.

He received a trophy and a cheque for £2,500 from Sopra Group UK.

Paciencia collected a cheque for £2,000, donated by BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT professionals.
