Dundee Swimarathon fundraisers go to great lengths to help

Hundreds of swimmers went the distance of Dundee to Perth without leaving the Olympia in a marathon charity fundraiser.
The second annual Dundee Swimarathon, organised by Dundee Rotary Club, saw 48 teams make a splash by covering 42,195 metres for charities dear to their hearts.
Both young and old joined forces for the day, with the youngest swimmer aged just five and the oldest 75 years old.
Schools, sports clubs, local charities, swimming clubs and family teams all took part in the event, raising tens of thousands of pounds for charity.
The largest sum raised £2,000 was managed by the Crazy Hair Gang, who were raising funds for a cot death charity.
Clive Murray, chairman of the organising committee, said people came from far and wide, from towns including Kinross and Dunfermline. He added: “It is a great way to spend an afternoon, getting fit and raising money for charities and good causes at the same time.”
There were 36 teams at the inaugural event last year, with 48 taking part in Sunday’s event.
It is hoped it will have raised in excess of the £14,000 made at last year’s swimathon.
