After baring all for charity, a group of friends are dressing to the nines in the fight against brain cancer.
Charity group Bare All For Brain Tumours, who have all had relatives or loved ones diagnosed with brain tumours, have raised more than £18,500 thanks to efforts including a nude calendar.
However, their next endeavour will be slightly more formal a bridal ball at the Caird Hall on October 1.
The partners of friends Carolyn Pierpont (33) and Carrie Shannon (34) were diagnosed with brain tumours within a year while another friend, Emma Kettles (34), lost her father John Coutts.
Carolyn’s partner Mark Toshney was diagnosed in February 2009 and then less than a year later Carrie’s partner John Shearer was given the same diagnosis.
“It just seems to be a lot of coincidence that people we know have had brain tumours,” said Carolyn, who has been nominated for a Bighearted Scotland award. “You are never completely clear but both of their last six-month scans have been clear.
“We’ve raised more than £18,500 so far by doing things like running the London Marathon and the calendar and we’ll be launching a calendar for next year on October 1 too. We have been trying to do a lot to raise awareness of brain tumours.”
Tickets for the Bridal Ball are available via the Bare All for Brain Tumours website at www.fbatbt.co.uk. You can also find the group on Facebook (link).
