A 44-year-old has been charged in connection with the suspicious death of Carnoustie man Tony English.
The body of 59-year-old father Mr English was discovered in his Kinloch Street cottage on the morning of December 11.
A 44-year-old man was arrested and later charged on Tuesday.
He is believed to be the same person previously apprehended by police. He was previously charged with assaulting Mr English the day before his body was found and appeared in private at Arbroath Sheriff Court in December.
He made no plea and was released on bail.
A police spokesman said: ”Inquiries are continuing and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
From her home in Ireland, the dead man’s sister-in-law, Jenny English, said the family were too upset to comment.
Originally from County Antrim in Northern Ireland, Mr English had lived in Carnoustie for around 30 years.
He had worked for an offshore firm in Aberdeen as a driller and also undertook casual work as a golf caddie.
Since the body was found, a scientific examination of Mr English’s cottage took place and police officers visited more than 165 addresses in the town.
Almost 300 statements have been taken by police, who have been maintaining a high-profile presence in the Angus town since the tragedy.
