Train buffs will make tracks to Kirriemuir next month for a vintage railway exhibition with models and toys spanning a whole century.
The fifth annual Kirriemuir Vintage Railway Exhibition in the Guide Halls on Saturday April 9, will bring together enthusiasts from across the country from widely different genres.
Event organiser Dale Smith said: “Hornby Dublo collectors are always happy to see Vic Michel who is a trustee of the Brighton Toy and Model Museum.
“Vic will bring the compact 3-rail Dublo layout he built and exhibited recently at the SECC in Glasgow.
“At the other end of the scale Alan Furneaux’s live steam O-gauge requires constant attention to keep things running smoothly.
“Graeme Pascall from Glasgow maintains a barely contained enthusiasm for his pet subject of Hornby O-gauge with all of the colour and excitement that tinplate railways generate.
“ Catering for the two-rail fans, Jim Clark from Carmyllie will run not one, not two but three layouts with British outline Dublo, French acHO and Triang Rovex from the 1950s.
“Jim will also find time to talk about his G-scale garden railway and show some examples from that collection.
Dale will host another O-gauge layout with the oddly titled “LMS The Big Girls”.
This is a reference to the various Princess and Duchess locomotives by ACE Trains, Bassett-Lowke and Hornby, all portraying the large mainline maroon locos which raced up and down the length of the country in the 1930s.
All of the exhibitors are members of the Hornby Railway Collectors Association (HRCA) but some are also members of additional groups too including the Bassett-Lowke Society, ACE Trains Owners Club, Train Collectors Society, Gauge O Guild and others.
For those who want a bargain, the trading tables will include first timer Alan Sangster from Cruden Bay who will be selling off books from the estate of the famous railway author OS Nock.
