A drinker “still on Saturday night” when he assaulted an Asda security guard after being refused vodka on a Sunday morning has been jailed for 90 days.
Lee Hogg squared up to his victim on June 8 after being told he would not be sold drink, standing close to his face and repeatedly trying to grab the man’s glasses before pushing him away.
Hogg, 23, of Glenmoy Terrace in Forfar, has not been back to the store since, but wrote a letter of apology to the employee at the town’s New Road store.
He appeared for sentence before Sheriff Gregor Murray at Forfar on Thursday, where defence solicitor Nick Markowski said his client was ashamed of the 10am incident.
“The (social work) report before the court is not in entirely positive terms and he realises he has placed himself in a precarious position,” the lawyer said.
Sheriff Murray told Hogg: “I fully accept that, as these things go, this is at the lower end of the scale but the difficulty for you is that everything else has been tried you are a prolific offender.”
