A violent thug who told social workers he could not co-operate with them because of agoraphobia has been jailed for four months.
Jordan Henderson claimed he could not attend court-ordered meetings because he was afraid to leave his home, but a sheriff pointed out that he had been able to leave home since the original incident.
Henderson chased a total stranger and stabbed him in the head with a pair of scissors after taking legal highs.
Perth Sheriff Court was told Henderson, 19, from Montrose, had taken so-called legal highs “Gocaine” and “Cyclone” before carrying out the random attack on David Watt.
Witnesses said Henderson, who could not remember anything, was spoiling for a fight after taking the drugs, which he had bought from a store in Arbroath.
Henderson challenged Mr Watt in The Mall, Montrose, on April 21 last year and chased after his victim when he tried to run off. Mr Watt stumbled and fell and Henderson punched him several times.
The teenage thug then pulled out a pair of scissors and stabbed Mr Watt, who is in his 30s, “two or three times” in the head, before running off with the blood-soaked scissors.
Henderson, an inmate at Polmont, was originally jailed for 16 months.
He was also placed under supervision for eight months after his release and the court was told yesterday that he had breached that by failing to meet social workers.
Sheriff William Wood told Henderson: “I am not prepared to accept what has been said. You were still disengaging from social work services just days ago.”
