Two Angus coastal towns came away with silver medals in a nationwide competition.
Carnoustie and Monifieth won bronzes at last year’s Beautiful Scotland awards and representatives were delighted with the improved showing at the Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen on Friday night.
Ed Oswald of Carnoustie Community Council thanked the townspeople and added: “We have great feedback and support from sponsors, volunteers, businesses, shopkeepers, organisations, and individuals.
“We are already planning for next year and would encourage more volunteers to come and help us build on our success just contact any community councillor.”
The judges commented that “Carnoustie has made huge progress in the campaign, adding colour and vibrancy to the town’s existing attractions”.
They added: “To be commended are the stunning war memorial and the conservation work at the golf course.”
Monifieth Eco Force chairman Alex Graham said: “The improvement over the previous year’s bronze award reflects well on the progress we have made in enhancing the appearance and environment of Monifieth.”
