The three British Heart Foundation shops in Angus raised almost £100,000 last year.
Angus MP Mike Weir met the charity’s representatives to discuss their work and the fundraising contribution made by their shops in Arbroath, Forfar and Montrose.
Last year all of the charity’s 600 branches collectively raised around £31 million Mr Weir said: “The three shops in Angus contributed over £94,000 to this life-saving work, which is a tremendous achievement for the many volunteers and staff who operate them.
“I was told that this money could help fund 21 Heartstart schemes, which train people how to save a life, 10 Health at Work schemes, which promote heart health in the workplace, as well as 300 subscriptions to the Health Matters magazine.”
The meeting was part of the BHF campaign to Fight For Every Heartbeat, which demonstrated the amount of money that has been raised in the last year through the organisation’s shops and what has been achieved with the funding.
