An Angus rector has wowed his pupils by stealing the show in a rendition of Harlem Shake global internet craze.

Monifieth High School rector Richard Coton, who retires from teaching this year, led S6 pupils in video which is well on the way to going viral.

Mr Coton revealed he was asked to take part by head girl Catriona Ingram.

“I have enjoyed working closely with members of our current S6, who are a really exceptional group of young people,” he said.

“They asked if I’d take part in the video. As a younger teacher, I did all sorts of fun things, but it’s not always so easy as a rector to do this.

“But because I’m due to retire in the summer, I thought it would be great to take part – I’m glad I did.”

The video has already been watched over 4,000 times.

Organiser Catriona said: “Mr Coton has had amazing support from the whole school for doing this and from former pupils. We never imagined we’d get so many hits on YouTube.”
