AN ANGUS serial offender has been jailed again after stealing bottles of vodka.
David McColl (26), from Prosen Road, Kirriemuir notched up his 39th conviction after he admitted stealing two bottles of vodka from the Co-operative store on Dundee Road in Forfar on Monday, December 3.
McColl was sentenced to 120 days in prison when he appeared from custody at Forfar Sheriff Court yesterday 60 days of which was for aggravating bail conditions given to him at Arbroath Sheriff Court on November 14 for three other matters.
The accused’s defence solicitor, Nick Markowski told the court that his client’s attitude had changed recently following the birth of his sister’s child and an improvement in his relationship with his mother.
However, Sheriff Kevin Veal said: “The accused has 38 previous convictions, which is not insignificant in any view.
“The offence was committed when he was subject to three orders less than three weeks previously and he had been released from prison in late autumn.”
