Elderly man’s body found near Monifieth High School
ByNews reporter
The body of an elderly man was found near Monifieth High School this morning after concerned neighbours heard a dog barking.
It is understood police are investigating the possibility that he had been out walking his dog and slipped and bumped his head.
Neighbours said the dog was heard barking for some time before the man’s body was found near the path behind Inchcolm Drive at around 5am. It is not known how long he had been there.
The man is believed to be an older gentleman and there are no suspicious circumstances.
Police erected a tent over the body to conduct forensic examinations and closed the path which leads down the west side of the school. Pupils who normally use the route were asked to find another way to school.
Tayside Police said they would release a statement about the incident later today. For more on this story, see Thursday’s Courier
