A Dundee singer stole the show at the Royal National Mod, Scotland’s biggest Gaelic cultural festival, winning four out of five competitions.
Anne Bennet, who is secretary of Dundee Gaelic Choir, entered five solo competitions and came home with an impressive four golds and one silver.
Anne said: “I really wasn’t expecting this. I always work hard and hope to do well but you just never know.”
Anne, who is a teacher for deaf children at Claypotts Castle Primary School, joined Dundee Gaelic Choir in 2010 thanks to their double gold Mod-winning tutor and conductor, Wilma Kennedy.
Anne said: “I felt a little down after the previous year’s results so I really was blown away when I did so well this year.”
Anne’s wasn’t the only local success last week.
A silver for both the president of the choir, Sandie Kennedy, and the choir’s group performance made it a week to remember for Dundee Gaelic Musical Association.
The choir also received a trophy for ‘Highest Gaelic’ to top it all off.
