Thieves empty house of every Christmas present

Thieves empty house of every Christmas present

Callous thieves stole a Dundee man’s Christmas presents during a £2,600 raid on his city-centre flat.

The robbers broke into the flat in McDonald Street between 3pm and midnight on Sunday.

They made off with a 50in TV, an IPad, a laptop and other Christmas presents, leaving their owner heartbroken.

The 31-year-old, who asked not to be named, said: “When I came home around midnight the door had been opened. It was not broken because someone had obviously used a key.

“I think someone who stayed here before me must have stolen a key. It was a big shock when I got back. They completely emptied the house and there was nothing left.

“It was very, very bad. My Christmas and Boxing Day shopping was in a few bags with the receipts and they took all of them.

“They took my clothes, my shoes and my tracksuit. These were gifts I received over Christmas and a gift I bought for somebody which had not been handed to them.”

He said this was the third time in three years that he had been robbed after similar thefts at his flats in Hilltown and Sandeman Street.

This time the thieves made off with a black Toshiba laptop and charger, a white iPad, a gold BMW mobile phone, a black iPhone and a number of bottles of aftershave and perfumes.

A 50in LG television was also stolen.

The victim claimed he is not holding out much hope for their return after police failed to trace the culprits of the previous crimes.

He continued: “It’s a horrible thing to do to steal someone else’s Christmas presents. They never cared about anything. I will have to replace these things myself as I have no insurance. It is very hard. I would ask that if anyone has information then they please try and help.

“Considering they took a 50in plasma TV they must have needed two or three people to carry that as it’s very heavy.

“They took loads of stuff and it must have taken ages to collect.

“They left a mess all about the house and took everything from all the bedrooms. There must have been somebody that saw them sometime.”

Anyone who may have any information in relation to the incident or stolen goods, should call 101 or contact any police officer.

Alternatively information can be passed via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 1111.
