A Broughty Ferry couple’s campaign to have Gary Barlow perform at their wedding has hit the rocks because the Take That singer will be out of the country on their wedding day.

Scott McRuvie and his fiance Lauren Allardyce were one of hundreds of couples bidding to convince the singer to perform at their wedding after he announced he would perform at three weddings in 2015 for fans who successfully “stalked” him online.

The couple, who got engaged on Christmas Day in 2013 and are both massive fans of Gary Barlow and Take That, are getting married in Carnoustie in August.

Scottstarted a Twitter campaign using the hashtag #scottandlauren08082015 to get the singer’s attention.

The Whitehall Theatre manager hoped an outpouring of public support would convince Barlow to attend his wedding but unfortunately the singer will not be in the UK when they tie the knot.

However, the superstar sent a personal message to Scot thanking him for his efforts and wishing him good luck for married life.

The singer said: “Thanks for all your effort(s) but unfortunately I’m not in the UK on that date. All the best!

“Good luck mate!”

The singer has already selected two of the three weddings he will peform at this year.

Scott told The Courier: “I’ve just heard from the man himself. He isn’t in the UK on our date. Gutted.”

Lauren and Scott are both huge fans of Take That and will see the band perform at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow later this year.
