The Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce has brought together 15 businesses to jointly sponsor a statue for the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail.
The group said they were “delighted” to be involved with the scheme, which hopes to raise £2 million for a new twin operating theatre surgical suite for the children’s ward at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
Alison Henderson, CEO of Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce, said: “The Chamber of Commerce is delighted to support The ARCHIE Foundation and help drive support from our members for the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail.
“We have been able to pull together 15 organisations to jointly support one of the sculptures, which will be situated outside the chamber at City Quay, during the trail.
“We are really pleased with the level of interest from the local community for what will be a real highlight of the summer in Dundee.
“We do still have a few spaces available for anyone who would like to join us and support the chamber sculpture, we’re looking forward to seeing the design stage next.”
The ARCHIE Foundation, who are organising the bucket trail in conjunction with Wild in Art and DC Thomson, are to auction off the Oor Wullie statues after they have spent the summer being admired by the public in various locations around Dundee.
Businesses involved in the venture include AFM Accountants, Scottish Antique & Arts Centre, Viromotion, Ecosse Global, MacRoberts, MAJR Group, Malmaison, Hillcrest Group, BioTechnics, Brewin Dolphin, West Park, Caledonia House, Andrew Shepherd Construction and DPL Travel.
