A medical interpretation of Tayside created by a young Dundee artist is on display at the London and Dundee headquarters of the Royal College of General Practitioners.
The Tay Bridge is represented as a stethoscope and the Law hill is made up of ECG waves in Aimie Bene’s ‘Discovering Tayside’.
Viewed from across the water in Fife prominent local features such as the Dundee Waterfront, Scone Palace in Perth and Angus’s Pictish stones are illustrated in the detailed work.
There are also more symbolic references to St Mary, the patron saint of Dundee as well as jute, jam and journalism.
The work was a six-month labour of love for 24-year-old Aimie, who graduated in 2011 with an honours degree in textile design from Duncan of Jordanstone.
She said she was grateful for the chance to work on the project her first commissioned piece.
Aimie said: “It was challenging and the planning and research stage took a long, long time. It is kind of like an optical illusion because you have to stand and look at it closely to keep finding something new.”
