Neighbours have come to the defence of a garage that is accused of parking cars on a road.
South Road Motors had its application for the renewal of its second-hand dealer’s licence deferred by councillors earlier this month to allow an objection to be considered.
A condition of its licence is that vehicles are stored on the premises. A couple who live nearby accused the garage of leaving cars in Greenlee Drive and complained visitors often found it difficult to park.
They said: “We would be grateful if restrictions could be put in place to limit the amount of vehicles that are allowed to be kept on the premises.”
However, the city council licensing committee will hear on Thursday that residents at 16 other homes in the street are backing the company.
They have signed a letter stating they have “never had issues or concerns” regarding vehicles parked next to South Road Motors.
They add: “We would not like these premises vacated as previously when unoccupied the garage was a target for undesirables.”
