A Dundee United player found himself pledging more than £1,800 to charity after one of his tweets went viral.
Defender Ryan McGowan, 25, was listening to a radio show about raising money for Cash for Kids and decided he wanted to get involved.
He posted a tweet at 8.22am, which said: “Listening to @forthone on the way to training! I’ll donate a £1 for every retweet this tweet gets before 9 once I’m at training #CashForKids.”
In the 38 minutes it took for him to get to Dundee United’s training ground in St Andrews, the Australian international’s tweet was retweeted a staggering 1,822 times. Ryan said he was pleasantly surprised at the number of retweets he received.
He tweeted: “£1,800 in just over 30 minutes. Challenge any other player/club to do the same!! May the best tweeter win. Good luck.”
