Tayside Police have been called in to investigate another alleged incident involving a staff member at Monroe House in Dundee.
A sixth care worker at the home, which is being run by administrators on behalf of collapsed company Castlebeck Care, has been suspended pending the result of the investigation launched on Saturday.
A source told The Courier the suspension was of a male care worker, which follows five previous suspensions at the Americanmuir Road facility in January.
A spokesman for administrators Grant Thornton said: “As part of the culture change programme introduced by the new board and turnaround management team at Castlebeck in 2012, a zero tolerance, suspension and investigation policy was put in place.
“Working with vulnerable people who have severe learning difficulties and related mental health conditions can prompt reports of a wide range of issues and incidents that no matter how trivial or lacking credibility must be investigated.
“Suspension of any member of staff in these circumstances is a neutral act to safeguard the interest of all those concerned. Similarly the involvement of the police in an investigation of the facts is an assurance of independence and objective understanding.
“We fully recognise the pressures that this places on staff and staffing in any and all of our units. But with the assistance of our service users themselves, their families and advocates we believe that it is an important policy and process in maintaining care standards for service users and protecting professional care workers from mischievous or malicious accusations.”
Tayside Police confirmed they had been contacted at 3.30pm on Saturday.
A spokesman said: “Tayside Police are aware of an incident reported to officers at Castlebeck Care Home and the matter is currently under inquiry.”
It is understood no one has been charged in relation to the incident, which was said by the source to be of a non-sexual nature.
It is also believed the latest matter, which is understood to have involved a female client in her twenties, was reported to police by the care home itself after the matter was brought to the attention of management.
Police are also still investigating the alleged behaviour of five members of staff at the private care hospital.
As revealed in The Courier, five staff were suspended from the home in January.
Castlebeck Care confirmed the suspensions but declined to comment on the nature of the allegations.
A source said it was believed the five were carers and the suspensions came as a result of allegations by relatives of residents.
Tayside Police confirmed it had received a complaint about the conduct of members of staff.
The regulatory body for Monroe House, Healthcare Improvement Scotland, also said in January it was aware of the suspensions but stressed the matter was at an early stage.
MSPs Joe FitzPatrick and Jenny Marra called for a full investigation.
Castlebeck Care was at the centre of a national scandal last year after the BBC exposed physical abuse and neglect at one of its care homes. Eleven care workers admitted to a total of 38 charges after they were secretly filmed abusing patients at Winterbourne View near Bristol.
Six of the 11 were jailed and five others given suspended sentences following the Panorama programme. It was placed in administration earlier this month.
